Valentina Teghillo is an Italian observational painter based on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, U.K.
Her practice centres around painting in oils, mainly en plein air (outdoors) and from direct observation, capturing the world as she experiences it in the moment.
Being an oil painter, Valentina finds the medium perfectly suited to her instinctive approach and dedication to authenticity. Her figurative impressions are deeply rooted in everyday life and closely tied to the natural world around her.
Valentina is inspired by the fleeting beauty of the environment — particularly the way light interacts with colours and textures, the reflections on water, and the shifting patterns across trees, hills, and open fields.
Her interest lies not only in what she sees but in how it makes her feel. Painting becomes a way of connecting more deeply with her surroundings, translating presence into brushstrokes.
Being immersed in the scene — whether outdoors or from life indoors — makes the experience immediate and intuitive. It allows her not just to observe, but to feel her subject.
Her aim is to convey the tranquillity, wonder, joy, and sense of well-being she experiences while painting, and to share that emotion with others through her work.
